Our Five Senses

This week we started our discovery of our five senses.  It's amazing how quickly the children learn and want to experience new things!  We carved out our pumpkin and snake gourds that Ms. Gerry brought in and we saved the seeds.  We are drying the seeds to roast them next week and we planted the rest of the seeds and we'll watch them grow and observe the different stages.

We had a bag where we needed to feel with our hands...without looking at the item....and try to identify different items.  Some of us wanted to look so badly!  We also listened to sounds to try to identify them.  We conducted a science experiment with water beads and watched and felt them grow as they took on water.  The hydrated water beads are a great sensory activity and as an added bonus the beads bounce on the floor!

The YMCA Swimming and Family Center Program

Swim and Family Center Program

This school year we will be offering an addition to our swim program at the Circleville YMCA.  We will be going to the Y every other Thursday and half of our students will be swimming and half of our students will be playing in the Family Center.  We will alternate our students every Thursday so they each get to participate in both swimming and playing in the Family Center each month.  Starting this Thursday, November 1, our entire school will be going to the YMCA from 12:30 to 1:30 with the buses leaving at 12:00 and returning to school at 2:00.  We will be eating an early lunch on those days so we can be ready to board the buses at 12:00.

We will send home a letter with your child’s Swim/Family Center Schedule until Christmas.  Before Christmas break we will send home the entire schedule for the rest of the school year.

Conferences and our Election Results

I have scheduled most of our conferences and I am working on getting the last few set up for the next week or so.  I appreciate your willingness to take the time to talk things over about your child and their preschool year.  A lot happens within the school year and it's great to have an understanding of where we're headed and to share thoughts and ideas. I am very thankful that I can meet with all of you!

We have our election results tallied and our two groups are called, The Scooby Doo Club and the Busy Bee Club.  I will send home a paper with your child to let you know which club your child is currently in and what the goals of the club entail.  We're excited about each club and what we can learn!
